“Successful Festival”…!

On Saturday 23rd April, M.R.F.A. hosted their very first festival.  Held at Moulsham High School, we saw 20 teams from across the South East come together to play in our 7v7 Transition Festival.  And it was a superb day!  The atmosphere and buzz from all the players was a joy to see.

With over 200 players taking part, it was a great success both for the managers and players alike in a non-competitive environment.  As next season for these U8 teams will have the addition of 2 extra players, the festival was a great opportunity for managers to experiment the new formations and see how their players adapted.

We started the day at 12pm where 10 teams played 4 games each, followed by a mini presentation to give each player a medal for their participation and hard work.  At 3pm, the second group arrived.

The teams that took part in the festival were:

First group

  • M.R.F.A.
  • Chigwell Boys
  • Dunmow Rhodes Lions
  • Dunmow United Piranhas
  • Sporting 77 Piranhas
  • Upminster Park Rovers
  • Senrab Tigers
  • Stanway Villa Red
  • Sporting 77 Tigers
  • Leighwood Leopards

Second group

  • AFC Woodham Pumas
  • Ashingdon Youth FC
  • Baddow Spartak
  • Feering Falcons
  • Notley Youth Falcons
  • Tigers Yellow Socks
  • Leighwood United
  • Senrab Lions
  • Stanway Villa Blue
  • Braintree Town Youth FC

Braintree Town Youth FC’s U8’s manager, Ben Bowes, commented, “Great tournament.  I’m pleased we entered it and there was some very good teams.”

Sporting 77 U8’s manager, Matt Car, said, “The transition festival is a great idea – it gives the players the opportunity to play in a no-pressure environment.  For me, I get to see my players in the new format and see what we need to work on for next season.”

M.R.F.A.’s Academy Director, Michael Richardson, commented, “What a superb day.  It was great to see the players getting to experience transition and seeing so many players with huge smiles on their faces.  I would like to thank all the teams who entered the festival and making the day a great success!  We hope to run another festival similar in the near future.”

Don’t fret if you were unable to make the day…our fantastic photographer and videographer, Jordan Bright, was able to come along and capture the day!  Our video below summarises the fun we had and which also gives you a glimpse of the great football played.
