One of the reasons we created our 2-tier programme was to allow players the chance to develop at their own pace and allow players to move between our Development Centres and our Advanced Academy when as coaches, we felt this was the correct thing to do. Over the past few months, a number of players have been invited to train with our Academy and we would like to share a few success stories.
Thomas Moore – U11
Thomas started training with M.R.F.A. back in 2018 when he joined our Development Centre in Great Dunmow. Thomas started working within his own age group U11s before showing a real desire and coachable approach was moved into the u12 group. After Christmas Thomas worked on the targets he had been given through his player performance programme and continued to push himself. This progress saw Thomas earn an invite to train with our Advanced Academy in late February.
After a 2 month period in which Thomas continued to challenge himself and strive to reach the next level, his personality shone through and ultimately his performances during training and fixtures we were excited to welcome Thomas into the group on a permanent basis.
Jack Winchester – U10
Jack is a player who has been with M.R.F.A. for some time, having joined us back in 2017 another player from our Development Centre in Great Dunmow. Jack was a player who attended our Academy Trials in July last year and was a player that at the time wasn’t invited to join our Advanced Academy.
However, this set back wasn’t got to stop Jack, having continued to work hard during his sessions on a Monday evening, he was invited to trial in April. After some impressive displays in training, Jack will now be joining the group permanently. This for us is a huge success showing that setbacks can only make us all stronger and more resilient. Well done Jack!
