Why Kids Should Join A Football Academy This Winter

The winter months come with plenty of changes for families: the nights are shorter, the days are colder and the kids just don’t want to leave the house. You may find that your little ones have been camped on the sofa for the past 12 hours playing Fifa with no sign of stopping anytime soon. While they may have a great first touch and a cracking football brain to boot, the last thing they want to do right now is to lace up their Nikes and get outside.

It’s a challenge many parents face during this time of year, but here at M.R.F.A. – a provider of football for kids in Chelmsford, we think we’ve got a few things that may just convince them to join a football academy:

  1. Putting In The Work When Others Won’t.

If you are dreaming of playing in the Premier League and you can’t see his bedroom walls through all of the tattered player posters he’s got stuck up, joining a football academy in Essex is the ideal solution. While it may be difficult to get out of bed in the morning, the more they stick it out with training in the winter months, the better advantage they have over those that stayed in bed that extra hour. Not only will they progress as a footballer, they will grow as an individual and learn valuable disciplines along the way. Skills like resilience, teamwork, and overcoming adversity are transferable skills for adulthood.

  2. Mental Health Matters.

According to The Guardian, one in ten children are ‘often lonely’ – however much they may talk online whilst playing games, or keep their Snapchat streaks going. There is no replacement for the real thing; meeting up with people their own age and engaging with them face to face. This is even more important in the dark and gloomy winter months, when they can often feel even more isolated than they might on a scorching summer’s day. Therefore, joining a kids football academy in Essex will ensure your child is getting out and socialising with children their age, helping to improve their confidence and language skills.

  3. Staying Fit Doesn’t Have To Be Boring.

Here at M.R.F.A. we don’t stick your kids on a treadmill for two hours whilst dangling a donut in front of them from a stick. We believe that keeping fit shouldn’t be boring, nor should it be punishing! When they’re engaged in training sessions, taking shots at the goal, or leaving their opposition for dead whilst scorching down the wing, they don’t even realise they’re exercising! Keeping your kids active and fit is not only healthy for your kid’s mental and physical health, the extra yard of pace or bit of stamina when trials for the academies come knocking may just be the deciding factor.
