BARCELONA TOUR

What a weekend! All 40 players made us immensely proud both on and off the pitch whilst out in Spain at the Football Cup Barcelona International Youth Tournament!

On the first day all teams performed superbly, winning 2/3 games, moving into the semi-finals that were held on the Sunday.

On the Sunday, all teams played brilliant games, with our U12s finishing 4th overall, competing a year above themselves which is a great achievement!

Our U10s unfortunately lost in their final but did us proud, performing all the way to last whistle.

Our U11s had an amazing final day, winning their cup final 3-1, and receiving their medals in front of an International crowd!

Head Coach, Ben Andreos, who went with the teams to Barcelona, said “All players rose to the occasion and had the best time in the electric environment! On the Sunday we experienced the highs and lows of the sport, but our boys shone both on and off the pitch all weekend!

FC Evolution Chairman, Michael Richardson, said, “Personally, this is now the 4th time I have been to the Football Cup Barcelona and it never fails to disappoint.

Teams from around the globe come together over a weekend and play at one of the most spectacular facilities I have seen, with pitches as far as the eye can see. This year we took our 3 boys teams, with 2 of our girls teams also going out in June to experience the competition.

As an organisation it is great to be able to attend events like these, and whilst the players will want to perform well, as a group of staff, there is so much more to tours. These weekends away are an opportunity for players to create memories that will last a lifetime! Still to this day I can remember every football tour I have been on, and we still relive those moments now.

This time was no different. To see the way the players gelled together in their teams was fantastic, singing on the bus, and creating friendships at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The players represented themselves, their families and us, incredibly well.

They all also performed superbly with each team having success on the pitch. Our U12s managed to finish 4th overall after qualifying out of their group into the A-finals. Our U11s managed to win their final with a superb performance winning 3-1 in the final. Finally, whilst our U10s lost their final, they performed superbly to get to that point. All of these results were achieved with most of players playing a year above themselves, some playing 2 years above.

Well done to all the players, parents and coaches for another superb tour! We look forward to going back again soon.”
