The game of Futsal places a large emphasis on technical skill as games take place on pitches designed for small-sided teams and fast play. Originating out of South America, the game of Futsal has often been a favoured avenue of development for young players. It has even aided the development of star players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar.
The smaller pitch forces players to make the right decisions at a quicker pace than normal and the heavier ball demands greater technical control and ball manipulation from the players. Players will almost constantly be receiving the ball under pressure which will force them to develop, not only their technical attributes but also their vision, creativity, and flair, ultimately making them more exciting and dangerous players.
Studies have also shown that players receive the ball in Futsal six times more often than they would be playing traditional 11-a-side football. Over the course of a season, this affords players literally hundreds of more opportunities to practice their touches, skills, passes, and shots. This, when partnered alongside a substantial football program, can help accelerate a player’s development by helping them become increasingly comfortable on the ball.
At M.R.F.A, our Futsal program is an integral part of how we develop our players as the kids love the intensity and fast-paced nature of the game.
