When discussing player development in football, there’s always a lot of emphasis on maximising player’s touches on the ball. For this reason, match time often gets overlooked as a fundamental part of training sessions.
It’s easy to see why, one ball between 10+ kids can often result in a select few children missing out on touches. However, studies have shown that even professional players at the highest level of the game, are only on the ball for roughly two minutes throughout a 90-minute match.
How can M.R.F.A. help?
M.R.F.A’s season-long curriculum covers an extensive range of both technical and tactical concepts that help children become, not only more comfortable but also effective in match-like situations. Our Futsal sessions especially explore tactical concepts, such as “building an attack” and “defending in a diamond” many of these concepts are easily transferable to the game of football.
Not only do our sessions dedicate a healthy amount of time to match play at the end of each session. M.R.F.A. are lucky enough to enjoy a healthy and productive relationship with a number of grassroots clubs, development centres and other professional academies. This allows us to regularly coordinate fixtures for both our development and academy sides on a regular basis against other teams across all levels of the football pyramid.
